Brown Trout, Brownies, Golden Brown Trout or German Brown Trout

These fish were first found in Europe and is native to Scotland.  However, it was brought to the United States and other parts of the world including Australia.  They are greenish to brown with the color fading slightly to a golden on their belly.  They have black and red spots but non on their tails.  Brown trout thrive and tend to outlive the other species of fish.  It may be because of this that they are considered highly intelligent. 

These fish can live up to thirteen years and grow quite large and can be anywhere from one to two feet and weigh as much as forty pounds.  They can be found in lakes and calmer streams.  When spawning they tend to migrate toward shallower waters and rocky water beds.  A picture is shown below:
