Watching the Environment

Making sure you are aware of the surroundings is one of the most important skills an angler can have when finding trout. Watch carefully for ripples in the water. Check the water temperature to determine if trout are likely to be near the top or closer to the bottom. Watch the indigenous life in the area. Is there wildlife that is feeding on the trout in the area? Are there others fishing in or around your location? Is there an abundance of insects (food) in the area?

All these signs will help you determine if trout are likely to bite. If you keep your senses sharp, you can increase the odds that you will find more trout.
